Brain Stroke / Stroke Management
Every Second Counts: Stroke Care Redefined
Welcome to the Stroke Management Center at Universal Hospital, where prompt and expert care converges to address one of the most critical neurological emergencies – stroke. Our dedicated team of neurologists, emergency physicians, and rehabilitation specialists is committed to delivering rapid, comprehensive, and compassionate care to individuals affected by stroke.
Understanding Stroke
Stroke is a medical emergency that occurs when there is a disruption in the blood supply to the brain. This can happen either due to a blockage in a blood vessel (Ischemic Stroke) or the rupture of a blood vessel (Hemorrhagic Stroke). Time is of the essence in stroke care, as early intervention significantly improves outcomes.
Rapid Response and Emergency Care
At Universal Hospital, we prioritize rapid response and immediate care for individuals experiencing a stroke. Our emergency department is equipped with advanced imaging technology, allowing for swift diagnosis and initiation of appropriate treatment.
Signs of Stroke :
(Remember “FAST”)
F – Facial Weakness: Sudden drooping or weakness on one side of the face.
A – Arm Weakness: Sudden inability to lift both arms or weakness on one side.
S – Speech Difficulty: Sudden slurred speech or difficulty speaking.
T – Time to Call Emergency Services: If any of these signs are observed, it’s crucial to call for emergency assistance immediately.
Comprehensive Stroke Diagnosis
Our center utilizes state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, including CT scans, MRI, and angiography, to precisely identify the type and location of the stroke. This information is crucial for determining the most appropriate course of treatment.
Advanced Stroke Treatments
Ischemic Stroke:
- Clot-Busting Medications (Thrombolytics): Administered to dissolve blood clots and restore blood flow to the brain.
- Mechanical Thrombectomy: A minimally invasive procedure to remove a blood clot using a catheter.
Hemorrhagic Stroke:
- Surgical Interventions: If necessary, our neurosurgeons perform procedures to stop bleeding and relieve pressure on the brain.
Spine and Spinal CordStroke Rehabilitation and Recovery
The journey to recovery continues after the acute phase of stroke care. Our Stroke Management Center offers comprehensive rehabilitation services, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. Our goal is to maximize functional independence and improve the overall quality of life for stroke survivors.
